‘Let Love Kill You’
a heroine’s journey
Premieres: Tuesday 23rd September at The Merlin Theatre, Frome
A new play by Marina Sossi
Gloria doesn’t want to die. She wants a way out…
Let Love Kill You is a surreal heroine’s journey with talking animals, magical misfits and original music. An unmissable new play. But who gets to write the ending?
A woman caught in the web of her own making.
A writer trying to seize control.
And a story that refuses to be tamed.
Playwright and performer Marina Sossi premieres her bold and dreamlike new theatre performance this Autumn at the Merlin Theatre, Frome. ‘Let Love Kill You’ is a hauntingly humorous, and hallucinatory journey through memory, womanhood, and the eternal battle between autonomy and fate.
At the tangled heart of it all, our heroine Gloria teeters between myth and madness, poetry and purpose, love and independence; trying to escape the threads of history and the pen of a domineering narrator. Guided (and hindered) by a talking guru dog, a magical spider, gargoyles, gravestones and flashes of a mysterious white rabbit.
Can Gloria rewrite the ending before it’s written for her?
With echoes of Plath and Hughes, this unmissable new play pulses with surreal, poetic imagery and original live music from Buffalo Gals’ Kate Lissauer. Let Love Kill You is a genre-bending story told by an impressive and versatile ensemble cast
